It has been a trying spring for Cattleman and Farmers alike; with that in mind we can try to manage around the weather in a few ways:
- Try to finish off unused fall or swath-grazing areas; we may have to haul a bit of water, but our grass will thank us
- Dry-lot the cows as long as possible to let your grass mature and get a better start
- Slow down your pasture rotations, using a small field to sacrifice when needed as this will provide a greater start to the rest of your paddocks, and speeding up only when moisture arrives
- Remember that dry conditions point out any shortcuts we may have used in our ground system for the electric fence **Keep in mind 1 ground rod for every 2 joules of power** If you don’t know how many joules, call us to find out.
